Association structure

HPA UK is led by our Board of Directors, made up of elected Chairs and Vice Chairs. The Board is advised by the Governing Body Committee, comprised of elected representatives from our Executive Membership, our elected Installer Representative with the opportunity to co-opt representation from members to ensure all sectors are represented. Executive Members can also make recommendations to the Governing Body Committee through Strategy Sessions, while priorities for specific workstreams are shaped in our Working Groups, open to Full and Executive members.

Our Working Groups

Our working groups meet online regularly throughout the year, these are open to HPA UK Executive and Full members.

Commercial, Industrial and Public Sector Working Group

Our Commercial, Industrial and Public Sector Working Group is dedicated to addressing challenges and opportunities related to heat pumps in the Commercial, Industrial and Public Sectors. Attendees explore market trends, policy frameworks, financing options, best practices, and awareness-raising opportunities for commercial and industrial heat pump projects.

Residential Training Working Group

The Residential Training Working Group is HPA UK’s forum for discussing training best-practice, monitoring developments in installation and installer standards, and supporting the development of a highly-skilled workforce through direct interaction with Government, and through inputting directly into the Building Safety Regulators Plumbing, Heating and Mechanical Renewables Mandatory Technical Competency Management Group.

Residential Technical Working Group

HPA UK’s Residential Technical Working Group discusses and advises on technical matters relating to heat pump systems in domestic settings. The group monitors standards, explores strategic technical matters affecting sector growth, and supports the Association’s responses to Government and industry consultations requiring detailed technical consideration.

Shared-Ground Loop, Low-Carbon Heat Networks and Drilling Working Group

The Shared-Ground Loop, Low-Carbon Heat Networks and Drilling Working Group brings together specialists in shared ground and ambient loop systems, low carbon heat networks and drilling. Members collaborate on technical standards, regulatory and policy frameworks, safety, and best practice to support the growth of low‑carbon heat networks and ground infrastructure.

Our Forums

Our Forums are an opportunity for members to come together to discuss areas of opportunity and hear more about the HPA UK’s work on their behalf.

Communications Forum

A space for members to share insights on public engagement, consumer messaging, and industry communications relating to heat pumps. The Forum helps shape HPA UK’s external narrative and supports members in aligning messaging across the sector, with the opportunity to hear about upcoming campaigns and events.

Policy Forum

A bi-annual opportunity for members to hear directly from the HPA UK policy team, discuss emerging policy developments, and contribute to the Association’s strategic policy priorities.

Installer Forum

Our forum to discuss matters for those who are active in the installation of heat pumps and to get updates from the HPA UK Installer Representative (*Note this is open to all member levels, subject to being actively involved in the installation of heat pumps).

HPA UK briefings on government consultations save me hours of reading, and I appreciate the responses that are sent on behalf of the industry.

Grant UK is proud to be a member of HPA UK, who are serving as an incredibly proactive industry body during a pivotal time for renewable heating. HPA UK brings together the voices of those that need to be heard from the heat pump sector and represents them where needed.
Anna Wakefield, Grant UK, Executive Member
HPA UK activity in promoting legislation and standards is completely transparent, and market reports are highly detailed, some of the best that I have ever seen from a trade association. Weekly communications are always to the point and welcomed. Excellent work HPA UK.
Tony Brown, Inta, Full Member
HPA UK are an excellent trade association with a clear strategic focus. Their dissemination of information to members is exemplary. The key relationships they have built with civil servants and members of parliament only adds to their strengths. The team do a great job in balancing the diverse views of members resulting in a well-balanced and unified position which represents all members. I would highly recommend HPA UK to others in the industry.
