HPA UK reaction to CCC Progress in reducing emissions report to Parliament

Commenting on the Climate Change Committee’s Progress in reducing emissions report to Parliament, HPA UK Chief Executive Charlotte Lee said:

“The CCC has been clear, the Government is not moving fast enough to electrify heat. The commitment to the Future Homes and Buildings standard to require low-carbon heating in new build is a welcome step, but this alone will not deliver the emissions reductions needed this decade.

We need affordable electricity, a clear plan for industrial electrification, and more support for heat pump roll out across public sector buildings and low-income households. Expanding support for vulnerable households will ensure a fair transition, whilst reducing exposure to volatile fossil fuel prices and strengthening our energy security.

The heat pump sector has invested significantly and is ready to deliver. Government must now match this with policy action.”
